KEARNEY, Neb. (KGFW) – Hot Meals USA continues to feed those in need amid the coronavirus crisis in Kearney. The organization formed to respond in the wake of disasters has produced about 40,000 meals in the weeks since setting up in the MONA parking lot.

The Kearney Knights of Columbs presented a $5,000 donation Monday as part of $12,000 total raised by the Kearney KOC, 4th Degree Knights, and St. James and Prince of Peace Catholic Churches.

“That right there will feed well over 5,000 people,” said Hot Meals USA founder and director Dick Cochran. Hot Meals USA produced over 1,700 meals Monday.

US Sen. Ben Sasse will help deliver meals today. Volunteers are always welcome to help serve or deliver to families and first responders that make requests. If you’re in need and can’t stop by yourself contact the Kearney Jubilee Center to have a meal delivered Monday though Saturday between 11 and 1:30 p.m.
