Story Tyme on The Morning Crave…

Story 1:  It’s Friday the 13th! Here Are the Top Ten Superstitious Things We Do

Does Friday the 13th make you nervous, or is it just another day?  A new poll found 29% of adults believe they’ve been INJURED because they didn’t follow a superstition they should have.  Here are the top ten superstitions we believe in . . .

  1. Avoiding walking under a ladder. 62% said they’d never do it.
  2. Knocking on wood.
  3. Crossing your fingers.
  4. Saying “bless you” when someone sneezes.
  5. Not opening umbrellas indoors.
  6. “Find a penny, pick it up.” But only if it’s heads up.
  7. Don’t put new shoes on a table. It’s supposed to be bad luck . . . and unsanitary.
  8. Breaking the wishbone on a turkey.
  9. Throwing salt over your shoulder if you spill some.
  10. Keeping your wish a secret when you blow out your candles.

The poll also found 36% of us have a lucky number.

Story 2:  A Cheetos Holiday Cookbook Is on the Way

Earlier this week, Mountain Dew announced a new cookbook where every recipe uses Mountain Dew.  But maybe you were thinking, “Whoa, that sounds too fancy.”  This might be more your speed . . .

CHEETOS just announced they’re coming out with a holiday cookbook . . . and, yes, all 22 of the recipes involve Cheetos.

The recipes include things like:  Flamin’ Hot Friendsgiving Turkey . . . Chester’s Kickin’ Cornbread Dressing . . . Chester’s Cheesy Skillet Corn . . . and Good, Better, Best Pumpkin Pie.  And some are available for free online.

If you want the cookbook, you can get it at the Cheetos website by making at least a $35 donation to the World Central Kitchen nonprofit . . . but it’s currently sold out.

Story 3:  Is “Pecan” Pronounced Pea-can or Puh-con?

We’re entering pecan pie season . . . so it’s time to dive back into THIS debate.  Which pronunciation is right:  PEA-can . . . or puh-CON?

A new survey asked people and the results . . . solve literally nothing.  50.54% of people voted for puh-CON . . . 49.46% voted for PEA-can.

And, of course, this poll didn’t take into account two of the OTHER possible pronunciations:  pick-AHN and PEE-kahn.

Survey Says:  Win a Raising Canes Box Combo Meal AND a Kearney Cinema 8 Movie Pass!
