KGFW Sports – Huskers Ranked?, Storm Add Five and High School Update

By News Sep 22, 2020 | 5:57 AM

The Nebraska football team received four points in Sunday’s coaches Top 25-Poll. That could be mean NU received multiple votes, or simply had one coach vote Nebraska 22nd in the poll. Nebraska received three points in the preseason poll before dropping from the poll because the team did not have a schedule. Once the Big Ten announced its return for the 2020 fall season, league teams became eligible again this week for the coaches poll and next week for the Associated Press Top 25. Ohio State, second in the preseason coaches poll, is now 10th. Penn State was seventh, and is now 13th. Wisconsin (12th to 17th), Michigan (15th to 19th), Minnesota (18th to 22nd) and Iowa (23rd to 34th) also dropped. Nebraska was the rare team to gain points from the preseason poll to the one released Sunday. With four points, NU is ranked 44th overall. The Huskers didn’t receive any points in the preseason AP poll.

The Nebraska football team’s season opening game will kick off at 11:00AM on Saturday, October 24th. The game will be televised on FOX.

The Tri-City Storm acquired five players through the 2020 USHL Dispersal Draft held Monday. The rights for those players were previously owned by the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders and Madison Capitols. The Storm selected forwards Nikolai Mayorov, Mike Posma, Ryan Taylor, Jordan Tonelli, and defenseman Maveric Lamoureux. The 2020 USHL Dispersal Draft was held as a result of the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders and Madison Capitols electing to suspend on-ice operations and not participate in the upcoming season. The USHL’s 14-team regular season schedule will be released soon. The regular season is scheduled to begin on Friday, November 6th.
