Story 1:  A Wedding RSVP Card Offers People Better Food Depending on the Price of Their Wedding Gift

There’s a fine line between tacky and groundbreaking.

There’s a wedding RSVP card that’s going viral right now for its pure insanity.  The couple is offering people different options for dinner based on how much money they’re planning to give as a gift.  Here’s the breakdown . . .

  1. A gift up to $250? Pick roast chicken or swordfish.
  2. $251 to $500? Sliced steak or poached salmon.
  3. $501 to $1,000? Filet mignon or lobster tails.
  4. $1,001 to $2,500 or more? Two pound lobster, a souvenir champagne goblet . . . or the vegetarian or Kosher option.  That’s right:  Those two aren’t offered at any of the lower gift levels.

As you might expect, people are just TEARING into this couple on social media.

Story 2:  A Study Finds There’s a Science Between Texting Someone “Heyyyyyyy” or “Whaaaaat?”

Now that we all refuse to talk to each other and just want to send messages, there’s a big challenge:  How can you give people clues to the TONE and FEELING behind what you’re saying just through typing?

Emojis and GIFs are two ways.  But another way is . . . adding tons of letters to normal words.

A new study at the University of Vermont looked into how we add extra letters to words to give them different meanings.

Like, “Yesssss” with at least five S’s shows you’re more excited than just spelling “yes” the normal way.  “Surrrrre” with at least five R’s is sarcastic.  “Whaaaaat?” with at least five A’s means you’re shocked and confused.

And the researchers say there’s an actual science behind what we’re doing here . . . we all have the same instinct to mess with the length of normal words to give them different meanings.

That actually makes those words an important part of our evolving modern language.  So soon enough, “heyyyyyyyyyy” with nine Y’s could be in the dictionary.

Story 3:  A Woman Leads Cops on a High-Speed Chase Because She Had to Poop and It Was Her Birthday

This woman tried two good excuses when she got pulled over . . . even though neither of them worked.  Not even close.

28-year-old Emily Owings of Enid, Oklahoma was pulled over last week for not wearing her seatbelt.  The only form of ID she had was her medical marijuana card.  And when the cops ran her name, they found out she had a suspended license.

But she asked them to just let her go for two reasons.  One, it was her birthday.  And two, quote, “I have to poop so bad.”

Then the cops found she also had a warrant in another county for fighting a police officer.  So they started to arrest her . . . and she sped off.

The cops caught her after a high-speed chase and arrested her on several felony charges.

As they were arresting her, she asked, quote, “Can I poop in your car, man?”  There’s no word on whether she did.

The Moore Yooou Knoooow:  Random Facts to Feed Your Brain!

  1. Shakespeare invented the name Jessica in “The Merchant of Venice”.
  1. The word “turquoise” is based on the word “Turkish,” because it described the color of the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of southern Turkey.
  1. Mort Walker, the guy who created the “Beetle Bailey” and “Hi and Lois” comic strips, came up with the idea for using random symbols like exclamation points and hashtags to represent swear words in cartoons. And the official term for it is grawlix.
  1. College basketball players aren’t allowed to have a jersey number that includes a six, seven, eight, or nine. That’s because after a foul, the refs signal the player’s number to the scorer’s table with both hands, and small numbers make it easier.
  1. In the Humpty Dumpty nursery rhyme, there’s no mention of him being an egg . . . that’s just how he’s evolved to look in pop culture.
