Test Nebraska will be at the following locations this week:

  • Kearney: WEDNESDAY 8-11 a.m. at Buffalo Co Fairgrounds, 3807 Avenue N, Kearney NE 68847
  • Lexington: WEDNESDAY 7-11 a.m. July 22, LRHC Rehab Services Building, 1600 W 13th St., Lexington NE 68850
  • Broken Bow: FRIDAY 8-10 a.m. at Melham Medical Center, 145 Memorial Dr. Broken Bow NE 68822

Anyone interested in obtaining a test for COVID-19 is asked to complete an online assessment at TestNebraska.com, which will also help with setting an appointment for testing.

The NSAA made an announcement regarding fall sports:

“The NSAA is preparing to begin the 2020 fall sports season as currently scheduled.  First practices for football, volleyball, cross country, girls golf, boys tennis, and softball are set to begin August 10th.

The health and safety of our student participants, coaches, and officials has been our priority as we work to provide activities for our member schools.  This will not change, and modifications may have to be made.  Please be understanding and flexible as we continue to try to navigate through this pandemic.  We will continue to work with the Governor’s office, Nebraska Department of Education, and the local health departments to make the best decisions for your students and our member schools.”

A Veteran’s Memorial 5K will be held in Holdrege at the YMCA on September 19th in conjunction with the first annual Veteran’s Memorial Fundraiser in Holdrege’s South Park.  The registration deadline is September 9th.  Contact the Holdrege YMCA for more.

The Safety Center in Kearney has now resumed in-person driving and classes.  Students must have a school learner’s permit or learner’s permit before they can begin the in-person driving.

All driver licenses, identification cards, commercial driver licenses, other conditional or provisional permits, handicap parking permits, vehicle titles, vehicles sales tax, in-transits, and vehicle registrations, that were temporarily extended under the previous Governor Executive Order No.20-05 are required to be obtained and paid by August 31st, 2020.

The 97th Nebraska Women’s Match Play Championship will take place this week at the Kearney Country Club.  The championship is co-presented by the Nebraska Golf Association and Nebraska Women’s Amateur Golf Association.  It will run Monday through Wednesday.

Nebraska lawmakers returned to their session on Monday for the first time in nearly four months.  They are facing the same issues they were in March, plus how the pandemic will affect the state budget.
