Contests on the show…

Coronavirus Insanity: Alcohol sales skyrocket, a quarantine weight gain calculator, and more…

Here are some NOT-so-serious stories we’ve seen about the coronavirus outbreak . . .

  1. Alcohol sales in the U.S. are skyrocketing. Sales were up 55% overall for the week that ended on March 21st.  Liquor sales went up 75%, wine was up 66%, and beer was up 42%.
  1. Here’s an online calculator that you can use to figure out just how much delicious weight you’re going to pack on during the quarantine.
  1. Wild goats have taken over the streets of a town in Wales now that everyone’s locked down, and the videos and pictures of them are going viral.
  1. A mom shared her five-year-old’s drawing of her that was maybe TOO accurate for the current situation . . . it really emphasizes all the hair on her legs.
  1. There’s a new dating site called Quarantine Together that matches up people after they confirm they’ve washed their hands.
  1. A boss somehow managed to turn herself into a potato on a video call and couldn’t figure out how to turn the setting off . . . so she was stuck like that the whole meeting.

  2. The government in Malaysia is getting criticized for putting up posters telling women to dress up at home and not nag their husbands during the lockdown.

Five things to look forward to in April…

It feels like everything’s been cancelled because of the crisis.  But here are five things you can STILL look forward to in April . . .

  1. First and foremost: Experts think we’ll see the number of coronavirus cases start to trend DOWN later this month.  Probably peaking in about two weeks.  So stay safe, hang tight, and remember it won’t last forever.
  1. Sports are on hold right now. But WrestleMania is happening this weekend.  And the first round of the NFL Draft is still scheduled for April 23rd.
  1. April 15th won’t be as stressful this year now that Tax Day is July 15th. Instead, look forward to STIMULUS CHECKS hopefully hitting bank accounts later this month.
  1. There’s a ton of TV to watch: The “Modern Family” finale is next Wednesday.  The “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” reboot starts the same night.  The new “Bachelor” spin-off “Listen to Your Heart” lands April 13th.  The sixth season of “Bosch” hits Amazon Prime on April 17th.  And “The Grammy Salute to Prince” airs April 21st.
  1. The holidays: Obviously the big one is Easter on April 12th.  But tomorrow is National Burrito Day . . . National Beer Day is April 7th . . . Passover starts April 8th . . . National Pet Day is April 11th . . . and Earth Day is April 22nd.

And since everyone’s working from home right now, this last one is easier to celebrate than ever . . . April 16th is “Wear Pajamas to Work Day.”

It turns out selling cocaine is a “non-essential” business right now…

We’re all learning what is and isn’t an “essential” business right now.

And apparently, COCAINE DEALER is considered “non-essential” . . . even if basically every cocaine user out there would VEHEMENTLY disagree.

The police in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada started following a 29-year-old guy for aggressive driving on Friday night . . . and they watched as he made a bunch of stops to sell drugs.

They eventually pulled him over and found a bunch of cocaine and cash in the car, so he was charged with drug trafficking.

And since coke dealing is a non-essential business in Ontario during the pandemic, he also got a ticket that carries a $750 fine.

According to a recent survey, America’s favorite streaming service while quarantining for COVID-19 is THIS.

Answer:  Netflix.  |  Go here for more.

More results . . .

Last weekend, “Morning Consult” surveyed 2,200 Americans about their streaming habits while quarantined . . . and when it comes to which service they’re using the most, there’s a clear winner.

35% of us are doing most of our streaming on Netflix.  10% said Hulu, 9% said Amazon Prime . . . and farther down the list were Disney+ (4%) and Apple TV+ (1%).

Of course, social distancing could continue for months, and there are more streaming services hitting the market in that time, including:  HBO Max, which debuts next month . . .

NBC’s Peacock, which debuts on the 15th for Xfinity customers, and in July for everyone else, and Quibi, which is launching on Monday.

Of those three, HBO Max may have an early edge.  16% of adults say they’re “very likely” or “somewhat likely” to subscribe . . . compared to just 10% of adults for both Peacock and Quibi.

Finally if you’re curious, 55% of people said they have 1 or 2 streaming services . . . 34% said they have 3 or 4 . . . 8% have 5 or 6 . . . 1% said 7 or 8 . . . and 2% are PSYCHOS who have “more than 10.”
