South Central Nebraska Children's Chorale

When: September 2nd, 7th, and 9th from 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM

Where: Fuhr Hall, Hastings College, Rm. 61

Open to all students grades 4-8. The Choral is a group of 65 singers. Auditions will include singing "America" unaccompanied, witha starting pitch of "F", echo rythm clapping, echo singing, and singing of a simple round, chosen by the director.

Parade of Flags

When: Saturday, Septmber 11th from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Where: Kearney American Legion

A free will donation lunch will be served along a raffle drawing to take place at the conclusion of the event. 100% of the proceeds fo to the "Parade of Flags," a fund for flags, poles, and a transportation/storage trailer. Currently 400 flags are displayed, with the goal of 500 flags for the next parade in the Kearney Cemetery.

Nebraska AIDS Project (NAP) will sponsor the annual AIDS Walk on Sunday, September 12, 2010 in Kearney & Hastings this year. The walk will be hosted at both locations simultaneously.

Hastings will host their walk at the Student Center at Hastings College and Kearney will be hosted on the UNK Campus at the Fine Arts Building.

Registration will begin in both locations at 12PM.

Nebraska AIDS Walk

When: Sunday, September 12th, registration @ 12:00 PM

Where: Kearney @ Fine Arts building on UNK campus, Hastings @ Hazelrigg Student Center on Hastings College campus

The walk will be hosted at both locations simultaneously. Kearney will feature guest speaker Don Messer from the United Methodist Global AIDS Fund, Hastings will feature musical entertainment from 1-2-5 and a guest speaker talking about his experience with HIV/AIDS.

The annual AIDS Walk is an awareness event that raises much-needed funds for comprehensive programs and services provided by NAP.

The Kearney Tackles Cancer campaign is raising money to assist cancer patients in the Kearney community.  The weekend of September 17th and 18th, we would like the Kearney community to show their support by wearing a Kearney Tackles cancer t-shirt to home sporting events at Kearney High, Kearney Catholic and UNK, or just around town.  T-Shirts can easily be ordered online at kearneynow.com or by stopping by the Good Samaritan Cancer Center before September 7th.  Students from both Kearney High and Kearney Catholic have teamed up to make a difference, and you can help, too!  All proceeds from T-shirt sales will benefit cancer patients right here in our community, who are struggling financially.  Together, we can tackle cancer!

Museum of Nebraska Art Guild presents "Life is a Cabaret" Thursday, September 30, 6:30 - 9:00 p.m.

"Life is a Cabaret" is an annual benefit event held in MONA's Outdoor Sculpture Garden. Sponsored by the MONA Guild, "Life is a Cabaret" follows an Italian theme this year with entertainment by Adams & Cooley, performing musical standards of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Tony Bennett. A live Auction will also take place for the following items:
